Rapid-Development Spray Tanning: Rinse Times and How It Works
Rapid-development solutions use accelerated DHA so you can rinse in as little as one hour — here's how the timing works and who it suits best.

Rapid-development spray tanning uses specially formulated solutions with an accelerated DHA reaction. Instead of waiting the traditional 8 to 12 hours before rinsing, you can shower in a fraction of that time — often between one and four hours after application.
The rinse time controls the depth of color. A one-hour rinse gives a light, natural glow; two hours develops a medium bronze; and three to four hours builds a deeper, darker tan. Your artist will recommend a timing based on the color you want and your skin's natural tone.
It's important to understand that the color you see immediately after your rinse will look lighter than the final result. The DHA continues to develop for up to 24 hours after application, so don't judge the tan by the moment you step out of the shower. Avoid heavy moisturizers, tight clothing, and sweating during that development window.
Rapid solutions are popular with clients who dislike sleeping in bronzer, people with last-minute events, and anyone with a busy schedule. Just be sure to follow your artist's specific rinse instructions — water temperature and the products you use in that first shower affect how evenly the color sets.
